Barnardo's National Choral Competition

The Farnham Youth Choir, Junior Choir competed in the finals of the Barnardo’s National Choral Competition at Royal Festival Hall on Monday 9th March and pupils from South Farnham were part of this choir.

Patrick Barrett, conductor of the Junior Choir said he is, “So, so proud of the way the singers performed. It is a real honour to have such a special group of singers in the choir this year.”

The Junior Choir performed two pieces in the under 12’s category for the competition in the morning:Shadow Maker by Cecilia McDowall and Five Eyes by C. Armstrong Gibbs.

The choir then performed in the evening concert, which concluded with a wonderful celebration of choral singing as the 24 competing choirs joined together to sing the Barnardo’s song, composed and conducted by Douglas Coombes MBE.

It was a truly memorable day for all involved and the singers showed enthusiasm and professionalism throughout.
