Lesson 1 Letters to Year R
|
To read and discuss a range of letter writing before answering comprehension questions. Read through the letters picking out key points. Recap key components, such as full address, date, Dear, purpose of the letter, paragraphs and an appropriate sign-off. Discuss any unfamiliar vocabulary and make a note of its meaning. Whilst referring back to the text, answer the questions in full sentences. Ensure correct usage of capital letters and full stops. |

Lesson 2 Spelling K SHEETS:
|
Children to focus on alternative spelling patterns. Look at the alternative spelling patterns for the ‘k’ grapheme. Choose 3 of the words from each category and write 1 question for each word (9 questions in total).
Ensure the correct usage of capital letters and question marks as well as your neatest handwriting.
Recap the prefix ‘un’ and see how many words you can write down that have ‘un’ as a prefix. Remember that they must be real words.
Find all the common exception words in the word search. Make a note of the tricky parts in each common exception word. |

Children to use sheet to plan a letter to Year R.
Firstly, include a purpose/reason for writing the letter (to tell you all about Year 1).
Secondly, explain your favourite part of Year 1 with plenty of adjectives for description and reasoning (using ‘because’).
Thirdly, explain how Year 1 is different to Year R with plenty of adjectives for description and reasoning (using ‘because’).
Fourthly, include a closing statement (I hope you have a wonderful time in Year 1 where you will learn so many amazing and interesting new things).
Finally, include an appropriate sign-off (Best wishes followed by your name underneath).
Remember to include at least one adjective in every sentence whilst applying capital letters and full stops in the correct spaces. |

To design a lighthouse and act out a piece of drama.
Children to look at a lighthouse and discuss how it works. Children to design and make a lighthouse out of a pringles tube and to paint it.
Read the story of Grace Darling to the children and her work on British lighthouses and sea rescues. Children listen and act out the BBC children's school drama on Grace Darling. |

To select from and use a wide range of materials and components, including construction materials, textiles and ingredients, according to their characteristics.
This week, your child can cut out two shapes from felt and then sew them together using the running stitch. They could try another type of stitch if they like. Perhaps they could cut out a butterfly or fish shape before stuffing the middle to make a little stuffed animal. Complete project. |

Geography
|
To explore a country.
Children will explore a country in South America. This can be any country of particular interest. They will have the opportunity to create a detailed information page about their nation of choice. In the top right hand corner, they can begin by colouring in an accurate representation of their country’s national flag. In essence, it is a research project which can be done with the support of an Atlas, map and computer. At the foot of the page, there are three lines to include some other amazing facts about their chosen country.
Ensure accurate spelling, punctuation and grammar as well as neatest handwriting and presentation. |
