I E SHEETS

Children to learn spellings from sheet. LOOK/SAY/COVER/WRITE/ CHECK Spot ‘i_e’ digraphs whilst reading the postcard. Underline or highlight them and make a note of the ‘i_e’ position in each word. Can you spot them all? Can you think of any alternative spelling patterns that make the same sound as ‘i_e’?
Sort the ‘real’ and ‘nonsense’ words in your neatest handwriting. Make a note of any unfamiliar vocabulary and its meaning.
Look at the slideshow regarding the ‘aw’ digraph and how it often comes at the end of words.
Reintroduce the concept of a suffix as coming at the end of words. Convert the positive adjectives at the foot of the page into the comparative form, e.g. change ‘loud’ becomes ‘louder’. Can you make a list of adjectives where it is more complicated than simply just adding –er? For example, ‘beautiful’ becomes ‘more beautiful’ and ‘naughty’ becomes ‘naughtier’ whereby the ‘y’ becomes an ‘i’. |

To take turns. |
Look at the provided photograph together. What is happening? Are the girls making good choices or bad choices? Why? What could they do differently? Discuss with your child that they should share and take turns. Explain why this is important. Spend time playing a game together (board game or a game outside) to practise taking turns.
Afterwards, create a list of good or positive behaviours and bad or negative behaviours with reasons for each, e.g. taking turns is positive because then a game is fair. Snatching dice is negative because it is impolite. Use this structure to help with reasoning.
Ensure correct usage of capital letters and full stops in your neatest handwriting.
