Children to learn spellings from sheet.

LOOK/SAY/COVER/WRITE/

CHECK

Spot ‘i_e’ digraphs whilst reading the postcard. Underline or highlight them and make a note of the ‘i_e’ position in each word. Can you spot them all? Can you think of any alternative spelling patterns that make the same sound as ‘i_e’?

 

Sort the ‘real’ and ‘nonsense’ words in your neatest handwriting. Make a note of any unfamiliar vocabulary and its meaning.

 

Look at the slideshow regarding the ‘aw’ digraph and how it often comes at the end of words.

 

Reintroduce the concept of a suffix as coming at the end of words. Convert the positive adjectives at the foot of the page into the comparative form, e.g. change ‘loud’ becomes ‘louder’. Can you make a list of adjectives where it is more complicated than simply just adding –er? For example, ‘beautiful’ becomes ‘more beautiful’ and ‘naughty’ becomes ‘naughtier’ whereby the ‘y’ becomes an ‘i’.

Children can look back at presentation from Monday to remind themselves of the five senses. In each box children to write what body part that sense uses and add a fact about that sense.

Children to write, improve and complete a final version of their information page on the five senses.

Children to write an information page on their five senses. Starting their information page by introducing the five senses. Children could add their favourite fact to the end of the introduction to draw the reader in. Children then write a section for each of the five senses, explaining what body part you may use for the sense and then add a fact to each section.

Children can conclude their work by saying ‘I hope you have enjoyed reading this information page about our five senses.’ 

 

Remember to include at least one adjective in every sentence whilst applying capital letters and full stops in the correct spaces.

To take turns.

Look at the provided photograph together. What is happening? Are the girls making good choices or bad choices? Why? What could they do differently? Discuss with your child that they should share and take turns. Explain why this is important. Spend time playing a game together (board game or a game outside) to practise taking turns.

 

Afterwards, create a list of good or positive behaviours and bad or negative behaviours with reasons for each, e.g. taking turns is positive because then a game is fair. Snatching dice is negative because it is impolite. Use this structure to help with reasoning.

 

Ensure correct usage of capital letters and full stops in your neatest handwriting.

This is a Muslim celebration. The children can explore Eid al Fitr and then create an Eid card to send to others.

KS1 Recorder world – step 2 ‘Gluttonberry Festival’ (if possible).

 

The website offers exciting online music learning for children and young people. There is a wide variety of contemporary digital resources for instrumental and primary music teaching and learning. We would normally be learning to play note B on the recorder at school. If you have a recorder, please click on ‘KS1 Recorder World’ and follow step 2 ‘Gluttonberry Festival’.

 

Last session, you will have completed Step 1 for the recorder is ‘Bongo Beach’. Click on the orange 1 just below ‘Bong Beach’. Activity 1 is ‘Left Up Rap’ by the start sign and you can work your way around the course to the finish line from there.

 

If you do not have a recorder, please click on ‘Working at Home with Yumu – in 3 easy steps’. Next, click ‘Ages 5-6: Your Imagination’. Here, you will have begun learning to sing ‘Your Imagination’. Please continue through the steps to learn to sing the song ‘Your Imagination’.
