Surrey Teaching Schools Network (STSN) is a partnership of outstanding teaching schools in Surrey:  as a group of schools we are excited to have the opportunity to share our extensive experience with potential school leaders and have a proven track record of successful leadership development.

Our NPQML is designed to support you in becoming a highly effective middle leader, with the skills, confidence and knowledge to drive and inspire successful team performance and improved classroom practice.
The programme is offered through a blended learning package that includes face to face events, online resources, peer learning, reflection, discussion around the latest research, and the opportunity to share and learn from the experiences of practising school leaders from a variety of backgrounds and educational contexts. In addition each essential module is complimented by a fully facilitated online course.
The NPQML is aimed at individuals with responsibility for leading a team, including key stage/subject curriculum leaders, heads of department and pastoral leaders. Our team of experienced facilitators offer a wealth of knowledge and support and are dedicated to ensuring your development as an inspirational leader.
The NPQML course consists of two essential modules and one elective modules:
Essential Modules:
  • Leading teaching
  • Managing systems and processes

Elective Modules include:

  • Leading inclusion : achievement for all
  • Leading an effective team
  • Leading and developing staff
  • Succeeding in middle leadership
  • Leading change for improvement
  • Leading in a diverse system
Each module provides up to 50 hours of study. It is possible to complete elective modules individually.
